A Conferência Internacional organizada pelo EVIAP – Earned Value International Advisory Panel está de novo em Lisboa, nos próximos dias 29 e 30 de Novembro de 2017 e dedica-se especificamente aos mecanismos de acompanhamento e controlo dos projectos. O tema principal da conferência de 2017 é “Controlar os projetos num mundo organizacional ágil”. O “Earned Value Management – EVM” é, hoje, a ferramenta mais reconhecida e eficaz para controlar projetos e é o tema principal desta conferência. Este evento está a ser organizado em Portugal pela única empresa PMI REP e PMI RCP, a 1stOnly Talent® e conta com o apoio da SW Projects (Londres) e o EVIAP (Global), que é o painel de especialistas internacionais em controlo de projectos e EVM, e que é a principal referência mundial para especialistas. Steve Wake, M.A., MAPM. (SW Projects)
Steve Wake is a management consultant, specialized in earned value project management. He provides advice, guidance, and training. He is the Chairman of the APM Earned Value Management Specific Interest Group and director of Steve Wake Projects, Ltd. He chairs, speaks, writes, and is an accomplished event organizer. He is seen as a UK expert and champion of the subject of earned value. He established reciprocity between the US ANSI EV Guideline and the UK APM Guideline. Steve is also an APM Board member and chaired the APM SIG-Steering Group with oversight of all APM’s SIG activity and strategy and he also chaired all the APM board, being deputy chair nowadays. In 2009, he helped found the EVA-Europe initiative and chaired the first conference at CERN Geneva and he is a member of the core author group for the revision of the PMI Second Edition of the Practice Standard for Earned Value Management. In 2011 he started EVIAP and also organised the Synergy 2011 conference programme for PMI UK.
Jose Angelo Pinto, PMP, MIS, OPM3 CC (1stOnly Talent®)
Jose Angelo Pinto has over 25 years of experience as consultant, entrepreneur and in the academia. He is in the board of directors in several organizations, and he is in the CEO of 1stOnly Talent®, a consulting and trainning organization that aplies Project Management practices and is a PMI’s REP and RCP. He was a founder director, president and is the fiscal council president for the PMI Portugal Chapter (Project Management Institute) president. He is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP), a certified accountant, a certified trainer and an expert on PMI® OPM3®, being a Certified Professional in this organizational improvement methodology.
Dr. David Bryde
Dr David Bryde is a Reader in Project Management within the Built Environment and Sustainable Technologies (BEST) Research Institute in the School of the Built Environment, Faculty of Technology and the Environment, Liverpool John Moores University. He has a particular interest in EVA. With his co-researcher Roger Joby he has recently completed a longitudinal research study into the use of EVA in clinical research. Preliminary findings were reported at the recent EVA16 conference and David and Roger are currently preparing a paper to report the full findings. David and Roger are also initiating a project to survey industry practitioners to find out attitudes and experiences of using EVA and the link with project performance. Much of David’s research involves international collaborations. Recent research and publications have been with colleagues from the University of Applied Sciences, Stuttgart, Germany and University of Technology, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
After a career in the British Army, he has worked as a senior project manager in the nuclear sector and completed assignments in Russia, Ukraine, Slovakia and a range of East European countries. Past assignments have included the reduction of technical barriers to trade and studies of energy security for the EC, as well as consultancy to US Department of Energy of project and programme management. He has held a variety of key posts in the International Project Management Association including President and two tours as Chairman of the Council. He is currently a Vice President of the Association for Project Management and has held a range of other appointments for APM including Chairman of the Board and secretary of the Research Panel. He has held a number of academic and representational post and is currently the Chairman of the International Standards Organisation’s Technical Committee 258 which is developing standards on project, portfolio and programme management.

Lloyd L. Carter
Mr Carter has been involved with Project Performance Management Systems and Project Management since 1968 when he was assigned as the Production Program Officer in Charge at the General Electric Company in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, USA. In this position he participated in the review of the first contractor to be validated under what was then called the Cost/Schedule Planning and Control Specification (CSPCS). While in the United States Air Force, Mr. Carter served in various acquisition management positions directly related to Project Management and Performance Management Systems. This included assignments ranging from source selection to contract operation activities.
Lloyd has supported Standards Australia, the Australian National Standards Organisation, for the past 7 years in support of several committees including the development of AS 4817 Project Performance Management Using Earned Value and was the Deputy Chairman of the Australian Standards Delegation to ISO/PC236 Project Management in the development of ISO 21500 Guide to Project Management. He is also promoting the development of an International Standard for Earned Value Management and has been working with the College of Performance Management, Standards Australia and The American National Standards Institute in this endeavour. While the Managing Director of MTC AustralAsia Pty Ltd, Lloyd directed the development of an Certification Program for Earned Value Management for SAI Globa Pty Ltd, at that time a wholly owned subsidiary of Standards Austalia and one of the largest Assurance Agencies in the world. He is also a member of the core author group of the PMI Earned Value Management Practice Standard 2nd Edition.
Wayne F. Abba (Abba Consulting)
Mr. Wayne F. Abba is an independent consultant specializing in Earned Value Management in the public sector. He has more than 40 years experience in contract and project management. His clients include US and foreign government agencies and their contractors. He also is a part-time Research Analyst at the Center for Naval Analyses, a federally-funded research and development center in Alexandria, Virginia, where he co-authored a 2009 study on using the Rayleigh mathematical model for EVM planning and analysis.
From 1999 to 2004, Mr. Abba was the Vice President for Integrated Management Services with Dekker, Ltd., a leading provider of software solutions and consulting for project management and decision support.
For seventeen years before retiring in 1999, Mr. Abba was the senior program analyst for contract performance management in the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense (Acquisition & Technology). He was awarded the Secretary of Defense Medal for Meritorious Civilian Service in 1993, 1997 and 1999 for leadership in the acceptance of effectively integrated technical, schedule and cost performance management principles throughout the Department of Defense, the federal government, commercial enterprise, and in the governments and industries of friendly foreign countries. He served on the joint government-industry Integrated Program Management Initiative team that in 1998 received the Department’s David Packard Award for Excellence in Acquisition.
Mr. Abba is a contributing author of the US Government Accountability Office’s “Cost Estimating and Assessment Guide: Best Practices for Developing and Managing Capital Program Costs,” issued in March 2009, and of the EVM content in the Project Management Institute’s PMBOK® Guide 4th Edition. He is one of the world’s foremost presenters on EVM and related topics. He serves on the editorial board of CrossTalk, the Journal of Defense Software Engineering.
Mr. Abba holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of the State of New York and a Master of Public Administration degree from The American University in Washington, D.C. In 1999 his contributions to the advancement of public and private sector project management were recognized by PMI’s Distinguished Contribution Award and by the Government of Canada. In 2005 he was awarded an honorary fellowship by India’s Centre for Excellence in Project Management. He is past president of the PMI College of Performance Management.
Ole Jonny Klakegg
Ole Jonny Klakegg has 23 years of experience in research, teaching and consulting within project management. He has worked in several periods at NTNU (Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim) and different consultancy companies in Norway. Currently he works in both spheres: 50% as a Professor in project management at Department of Civil and Transport Engineering at NTNU, and 50% as R&D Director of Faveo Project Management, the largest PM consultancy in Scandinavia.
Klakegg has experience from a large number of major projects in Norway in several sectors and industries, including building, civil engineering, transport, health, defence, organisational development and telecom/computer technology. He has 9 years experience as manager and consultant in private sector. As a researcher he has studied public projects over the last 6 years. His main focus is the development and implementation of governance frameworks to secure public budgets is well spent, delivering value for money. This has resulted in several publications on project governance. Klakegg got his Ph.D. in 2010. The title of the dissertation is: “Governance of Major Public Investment Projects. In Pursuit of Relevance and Sustainability.”
His special field in Project Management is Management of Uncertainty, but he has interest in a wide range of Project Management issues, including Portfolio Management, Risk Management, Quality Management, and Contract Management. Klakegg has written a substantial number of textbooks, reports and papers on a number of issues within Project Management. He is often presenting at conferences and other professional arenas, in Norway and internationally.
Michael Newton is a Principal Teaching Fellow in WMG, University of Warwick and has been teaching project management at MSc level for the last 18 years. He has developed and taught on Project and Programme Management courses for a number of major organisations including Airbus, Network Rail, TVS Motors and Smiths Aerospace. He has been a member of the Association for Project Management Earned Value Specific Interest Group (EVSIG) since 2004 and has worked extensively on the development of Earned Value Qualifications, the first of which was launched by APM Group in June 2010. He has an MEng in manufacturing engineering from Cambridge University and was a Senior Consultant and Project Manager with different companies in the GEC Group before joining Warwick.
Ricardo Viana Vargas, MSc, CSM, PMP
Project, portfolio and risk management specialist. He is author of 10 books in Portuguese and English. Consultant in projects, administering an investment portfolio of over 18 billion dollars worldwide. He was Chairman of the Board for the Project Management Institute (PMI), the largest project management association in the world.
Neil F. Albert
Neil F. Albert is the President and CEO of MCR, LLC, a company specializing in Integrated Program Management by providing business analysis and forecasting, project management consulting, and systems engineering services. Having served in numerous positions at MCR for over 20 years, Mr. Albert manages and performs strategic planning, cost/schedule analysis, acquisition management, and program assessment activities in support of international government and industry clients. Prior to MCR, he was Director of Cost Estimating and Analysis at Textron Defense Systems where he was responsible for life cycle cost analysis, Design-to-Cost, economic analysis, and cost estimating and pricing for all programs. During his career, Mr. Albert has also provided cost, earned value management, and program management support to numerous government agencies and industries globally.
Mr. Albert has more than 30 years of professional experience. In 2003 he received the “Lifetime Achievement” award from the Society of Cost Estimating and Analysis (SCEA) and in 2010 he received the “Freiman Award”, the highest award from the International Society of Parametric Analysts. He is a Past President of SCEA and the Project Management Institute’s College of Performance Management (PMI-CPM). He is currently on the Executive Committee for the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA) Program Management Systems Committee and the Industrial Committee for Program Management.
In 2001, Mr. Albert was appointed by the US Secretary of Defense to the Defense (DoD) Business Board, a Federal Advisory Committee providing the Secretary of Defense and the Deputy Secretary of Defense independent advice and recommendations on effective strategies for implementing best business practices in the overall management and governance of the Department. He currently serves as a Senior Fellow on the Board. In 2007 he received the DoD’s “Medal for Exceptional Public Service” for his efforts in support of the Defense Business Board.
Dr David Hillson FIRM HonFAPM PMI-Fellow FRSA FCMI
Known globally as The Risk Doctor, Dr David Hillson is an international risk consultant and Director of Risk Doctor & Partners, offering specialist risk management consultancy across the globe, at both strategic and tactical levels. He has worked in over 40 countries with major clients in most industry sectors.
David is recognised internationally as a leading thinker and practitioner in risk management, and he is a popular conference speaker and author on the subject. He has written eight books on risk, as well as many papers. He has made several innovative contributions to the discipline which have been widely adopted. David is well-known for promoting inclusion of opportunities throughout the risk process. His recent work has focused on risk attitudes (seewww.risk-attitude.com ), and he has also developed a scaleable risk methodology (www.ATOM-risk.com).
David was named Risk Personality of the Year in 2010 by the Institute of Risk Management (IRM). He was the first recipient of this award, recognising his significant global contribution to improving risk management and advancing the risk profession. David is also an Honorary Fellow of the UK Association for Project Management (APM), and a PMI Fellow in the Project Management Institute (PMI®), both marking his contribution to developing project risk management.
David was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (RSA) to contribute to its Risk Commission. He is currently leading the RSA Fellows project on societal attitudes to failure. He is also a Chartered Manager and Fellow of the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), reflecting his broad interest in topics beyond his own speciality of risk management.

Dr Stephen Benton
Business Psychology Centre at the University of Westminster
As the first UK Professor of Business Psychology he is also the founding director of the Business Psychology Centre at the University of Westminster. Whilst the centre has developed a portfolio of short courses and the leading masters in Business Psychology it also has a successful track record in Knowledge Transfer research funded by the MRC, ESPR and EU, as well as various consultancy contracts within the public sector.
